Well, I didn’t take out the top prize for the Michael Thwaites Poetry Award at the 2014 ACT Writers Centre Writing and Publishing Awards, but I am super excited to have been Highly Commended.
PS Cottier, renowned local poet and judge for this year’s poetry prize, said:
“‘Jack and Jill’ uses repetition and slabs of word as weapons that demand attention.”
Jack and Jill will appear in the ACT Writer’s Centre newsletter ACTWrite sometime in 2015.
Overall the awards were a great chance to see what else is going on in the ACT writing world. I am constantly amazed by the amount of quality writing floating around this little state. It’s great to be part of such a word happy community!
You can see the winners for all the awards over at Capital Letters, the ACT Writers Centre blog.
